The Cowboy Cauldron

Problem

Cowboy Cauldron manufactures and sells expensive fire pits and grills and is heavily reliant on their website for the majority of their sales. While their target customers skew older; counterintuitively, analytics revealed an increasing percentage of visitors coming to the site through mobile platforms. Research verified that although the audience skewed older, there was a high rate of adoption of tablets, particularly Apple’s iPad throughout its customer base.

Strategy

The Idea Factory designed and produced a new mobile-responsive web site with eCommerce capabilities suited to the mobile platform. The site not only featured and sold the fire pits, but also recommended accessories into packages for value-added upsells.

Results

Cowboy cauldron experienced a significant increase in all traffic metrics leading to a year-over-year increase in sales of 38% – with 22% of all sales coming from mobile devices.
